Abstract:	The Digital Chart of the World (DCW) is an Environmental Systems Research Institute, Inc. (ESRI) product originally developed for the US Defense Mapping Agency (DMA) using DMA data. This data was downloaded from the Penn State web site and then converted to Shapefile format using ArcMap.
Lineage:	See the Penn State web site for more details and to download other data: http://www.maproom.psu.edu/dcw/dcw_about.shtml. It has been processed minimally to remove some inland water features that were background polygons and holes in urban and landcover polygons have been removed. This dataset is in the original geographical coordinate system (Clarke 1866). A set of ArcMap Layer Files and an MXD file is included with the data that can be used to give an approximate representation of the data..
