| Abstract | dc.description.abstract | Large lakes are lakes that have a surface area larger than 500 km2. The definitions are from the WISE GIS guidance document. The main purpose of the data sets is to provide a cartographic background. To have a visually uninterrupted hydrographic network the feature layers should be used in combination with Transitional waters. For more information about European waters, please visit the WISE portal.Change compared to version 1.0: In version 1.1 one erroneous feature was deleted in the Large lakes dataset. http://www.eea.europa.eu/data-and-maps/data/wise-large-rivers-and-large-lakes/ This data is in EPSG:3035 Coordinate reference system and is at roughly 1:10000000 Scale (accuracy 5000m.
