Title:	World Alcohol Consumption Trends 2005

Abstract:	This data represents the trends in alcohol consumption around the World in 2010/11. The data was sourced from a WHO report “Global status report of health and alcohol” (http://www.who.int/substance_abuse/publications/global_alcohol_report/msbgsruprofiles.pdf). Several points should be noted , consumption is measured as the “per capita consumption for adults (+15 years) and is measured as litres of pure alcohol”. Most data is for 2005, but the recorded consumption is an average figure for 2003-2005. A map is included in the download for easy of use.
Lineage:	This dataset was created from a WHO report “Global status report of health and alcohol” (http://www.who.int/substance_abuse/publications/global_alcohol_report/msbgsruprofiles.pdf). The data was extracted and converted into a GIS friendly format. It was then combined with a World Boundary File (http://hdl.handle.net/10672/124) so the data could be represented as a map. Any use of this data should acknowledge the World Health Organisation (WHO) as the data source.
